Ended up troubleshooting an audio issue after playing with DimDim (not really DimDim's fault). All of a sudden Flash was not playing nicely with PulseAudio. The browser absolutely refused to play any sound. If I went to Stickam, the first video source would load (without sound), but any attempt to go elsewhere would cause the browser to lock up. Also, if I just left the browser on the first site, it would still lock up after about 30 seconds.
I'm not sure why I did it but, at one point, I started the browser from the command line. It still locked up. However, after killing the process, I was greeted with line upon line of the following:
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:874:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:874:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:874:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
Fortunately, this appears to be a common problem. Kudos to Tombuntu for posting that installing libflashsupport fixes the issue. Tombuntu states that use of this package can cause other issues but I've not detected any yet.
