Warning! Some of the definitions below involve very disgusting acts or practices. Some make no sense at all. However, if you work in network security, you're bound to run into some form of it. Also, these are not legal definitions. Some I've gathered and/or interpreted from other sites on the Internet (sources included). If you see an error, please make the correction or e-mail it to me.


A
A Record (Contect: DNS) Also known as an Address Record. Provides hostname-to-IP address resolution. Men&Mice
Acceptable Usage Policy (Context: Information Assurance) (Acronym: AUP): A written document in which an organization's policy on network usage is spelled out. Users are often required to sign a local copy.
Aka-chan pure (Context: Japanese sexual fetish) (Alt: baby play) A Japanese fetish where the man dresses and plays a baby, diaper changing included. Hentai Dictionary
Alias (Context: DNS) "Alias" is an alias for CNAME. Men&Mice
Ancestry (Context: DNS) A term describing the parent/child relationship between domains and subdomains. Men&Mice
Ashikoki (Context: Japanese sexual fetish) The foot equivalent of a hand job. Hentai Dictionary
Authoritative (Context: DNS) A term applied to the DNS server that is the source for data for a specific domain. An authoritative server is the one that the rest of the world comes to query for a specific domain. Men&Mice
AV (Context: Japanese porn) Used as an alternative to "the Japanese porn industry". Hentai Dictionary
B
Baacharu deito (Context: Japanese sexual fetish) (Alt: virtual date). A type of Japanese fetish film shot from the point of view of the boyfriend. The couple goes on a date which ends in sex. Hentai Dictionary
Back door (Context: computer security) A secret point of access on a system or in a program. Normally describes a secret point of entry into an operating system installed by a trojan horse program or a hacker.
Beastiality (Context: sexual fetish) A felony in most states. Normally described as a sexual act between a human and an animal.
BIND (Context: DNS) The Berkeley Internet Name Daemon. Considered to be the most common DNS server on the Internet. Men&Mice
Black hat (Context: computer security) As opposed to white hat. Describes an "evil" hacker. The bad guys.
Bluejacking (Context: computer security) Slang for the act of sending (or receiving) an unsolicited message via Bluetooth. See http://www.bluejackq.com/howto.htm for a quick "how to".
C
Cache (Context: DNS) "Cached" or "caching" describes the act of temporarily saving DNS data in case of repetitive queries. Men&Mice
Cache Poisoning (Context: DNS) "Cache poisoning" describes the act of inserting false records into a DNS server's cached data.
Canonical Name (Context: DNS) The real name of a host. As opposed to an "alias". (Hint: Don't confuse this with a CNAME.) Men&Mice
Cinderella Attack (Context: computer security) A denial of service (DoS) attack in which the attacker adjusts system time past the expiration date of a licensed program, effectively disabling it. Dayioglu
Classless Inter-Domain Routing (Context: Networking) (Acronym: CIDR) Also known as Supernetting. An alternate method for sub-netting which relies on netmasks to break network classes into smaller (and more) subnets. Tech Target
Click Fraud (Context: computer security) Occurs when someone accesses an URL with no intention of browsing the site, purchasing a product or performing research. Considered fraud against services (such as Google's Adwords) where sites hosting the links are rewarded by visitors clicking on the hosted links. A FAQ on the topic is available here. CNAME (Context: DNS) Short for a Canonical Name Record. A CNAME record creates an alias for a Canonical hostname. Men&Mice
Corprophilia (Context: sexual fetish) The intense fascination for bodily excretions, including blood, urine, feces, etc. Often includes sexual arousal for same. See scatophilia.
D
Defacement (Context: computer security) Any unauthorized change to a web page.
Defacement mirror (Context: computer security) A web site or e-mail service devoted to publishing, or notifying subscribers or, web site defacements.
Delegation (Context: DNS) A method for designating a different DNS server for a sub-domain. Uses NS records which, when used in this manner, are also called "glue records". Men&Mice
Denial of service (Context: computer security) A specialized type of attack in which system resources are used at such a rate that they are denied to other users.
Dumpster diving (Context: computer security) The practice in which hackers gain information about a target by digging through the target's trash. Sometimes yields operations manuals and/or passwords. Often yields credit card numbers.
F
Filk Music (Context: Science Fiction Fandom) Fan-generated folk music, often nonsensical, sometimes modified from pop-songs, usually science fiction-related. Usually song in group form at Cons.
G
Grep (Context: Unix shell commands) A unix command-line utility which is able to rapidly filter text for specific words or phrases.
H
Haircut fetish (Context: Japanese sexual fetish) An odd type of Japanese fetish film of women getting their hair cut, usually just normal haircuts. Hentai Dictionary
Hammock fetish (Context: Japanese sexual fetish) A Japanese fetish in which a women is suspended (entirely hidden) in a bag. Sex is performed through a hole in the bag. Hentai Dictionary
Hi Tech Giantesses (Context: Japanese sexual fetish) A type of Japanese fetish film showing giant women crush tiny humans. Hentai Dictionary
Hijacking (Context: computer security) A specialized type of attack in which a live connection between to systems is seized by the attacker and used for his own purposes.
I
Incident response plan (Context: Information Assurance) A written plan for recovery from incidents.
Internet Relay Chat (Context: network services) (Acronym: IRC): A very large, distributed service which allows mul- tiple users to chat, share les, and sometimes work on commn projects. Lately, this service is also used to control zombies and/or gather information reported by active viruses.
Iryou fetchi (Context: Japanese sexual fetish) (Alt: medical fetish) A Japanese fetish. A general term for everything from dressing in nurse's uniforms (kangofuu seifuku pure) to using the equipment (ouch!). Hentai Dictionary

Kangofuu seifuku pure fetish (Context: Japanese sexual fetish) (Alt: nurse uniform play) A Japanese fetish involving dressing up in nurses' uniforms. Hentai Dictionary
Kiddie porn (Context: sexual fetish) Slang for child pornography. A felony which the FBI will investigate. Often defined as pornography depicting, or suggesting, a sexual act involving a minor.

Land attack (Context: computer security) A denial of service attack involving spoofed SYN packets in which the source and destination IPs and ports are the same. This type of attack used to cause certain operating systems to crash or lock up. CERT.org
Love-bulge fetish (Context: Japanese sexual fetish) A Japanese fetish were men gawk at clothed womens' crotches. Hentai Dictionary
M
Mail relay (Context: computer security) A computer or computers which store-and-forward e-mail for customers. Normally there are no local users on this type of machine. Normally used to remove (from firewalls) the load required to handle/deliver e-mail.
Maj Jongg fetish (Context: Japanese sexual fetish) A Japanese fetish in the form of a video game. Hentai Dictionary
Multi-Function Device (Context: Information Assurance) (Acronym: MFD) Any device that performs more than one function. Examples include: printer-scanners, all-in-ones (fax, speaker-phone, printer, answering machine), etc.

Necrophilia (Context: sexual fetish) The act of or fascination with, sex with the dead. A felony in most states.
Nose torture (Context: Japanese sexual fetish) A Japanese fetish in which a woman's nostrils are manually distended (yes, think pain.), often involving dedicated hardware. Hentai Dictionary

Patient face (Context: Japanese sexual fetish) A Japanese fetish involving the filming of just the woman's face while she is having sex. Hentai Dictionary

Rashoman Hospital (Context: Japanese pornography) A Japanese DVD of normal hospital life which allows the viewer to change the degree of undress via a button on the remote. Hentai Dictionary
Remote control vibrator 24 hour (Context: Japanese pornography) A Japanese television show in which a women goes through her normal day wearing a powerful vibrator while a pornagrapher remotely triggers the device, hoping to cause embarassing situations. Hentai Dictionary
Rubbing the pudenda fetish (Context: Japanese sexual fetish) Apparently a practice and a comic book. Involves women "dry humping" inanimate objects of appropriate/available height. The comic involves exaggerated depictions of womens' genitalia. Hentai Dictionary

Scatophilia (Context: sexual fetish) An intense, often sexual, fascination with feces.
Standard Operating Procedure (Context: Information Assurance) (Acronym: SOP): a written procedure for performing a specific function or process.
T
Teardrop attack (Context: computer security) A denial of service attack involving fragmented packets which are crafted to overlap after reassembly. This type of attack used to cause specific operating systems to crash.
Thank you for your input (Context: business communications) In management-speak, a mild insult equating to "Thank you for wasting our time."
Trying not to pee fetish (Context: Japanese sexual fetish) A Japanese fetish film involving a public game of "who can hold their urine the longest". The interest is in the losers (those that piss themselves). Hentai Dictionary
U
Universal Greeting Time (Contect: IRC jargon) (Acronym: UGT) Phrase based on the assumption that time is irrelevant. In other words, "Good morning!" is used when joining a channel, "Good night!" when leaving. Total Knowledge
W
War Games (Context: computer security) (Other than the movie) Contests, online and standalone, in which participants attack targets for points. Legitimate games can include standalone contests such as those run at DefCon and ShmooCon or periodic online games hosted via domains such as PullThePlug.org. Illicit games can include web site defacement contests and other, more insidious, goals.
