Returning

Are they still on the endangered list? It's nice to see them numerous enough that they consider nesting near where I grew up. From the local newspaper: (Lynn Brennan) A bald eagle watches cars pass through the snow while resting on a tree limb at the Almond Dam Wednesday morning. There appears to be a nesting pair at the site, adding to others reported throughout the area, especially along the Canisteo River. joat: 11:15:00 25 Mar 2005

A bit soggy

This past week saw a freak storm park over a roughly 4-square mile area which my house sits in the middle of. It stayed there and dumped just under a foot of rain in a two hour period. The following pictures were taken hours later. I missed the storm as I was at work and my wife says the water level was much higher. Keep in mind that the street drains were operating normally. The police report that 3 blocks over, the water was 3 feet deep. Oh and no, I don't live near any bodies of water that would overflow like this. This all came from the sky at 2 p.m. and it was all gone by 7 p.m. Neighbor's bush, mailbox, and car Further down the street, sorry for the fuzziness The two kids on the left are on the sidewalk. joat: 15:53:02 17 Jul 2004

Photos from home

During the war many blogs turned into channels for political vents, the owners ranting about their own political views. I like to think I made my blog better by not violating the purpose of the primary intention of having this blog. But when something like below happens, I'm more than willing to blog about it. I'll be the first to admit that I grew up in an area populated by old hippies and hillbillies (when the railroad left, the area went into deep recession). What do these people to when one of their own undergoes surgery? Throw a fund-raiser! (This is the same area of the state that sponsored and sold tapes to B.A.N.D.I.T.S.) (Google THAT one!)
